This period marked the major turning point in Palestinian history. During the year 1948, more than 80% of the Palestinians were displaced from the area of 80% of the historical land of Palestine, which the Zionist movement seized and established a state called “Israel.” Palestinians describe 1948 as the year of the “Nakba”.
About 150,000 Palestinians, who were not displaced, remained inside Israel in 1948, and Israeli citizenship was imposed on them, but Israel applied military rule to them for twenty years. This military rule was later applied to the Palestinians of the West Bank and Gaza Strip after the 1967 occupation.
Immediately after the Israeli occupation of all of historic Palestine, Israel began building colonial settlements for Jews in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, and allowed settlers to carry weapons in these settlements under the protection of the Israeli army. After 20 years of Israeli occupation, the Palestinians rose up in the occupied territories, and the first Stone Intifada broke out in 1987.
In 1993, the word “Oslo” entered Palestinian history because its events changed over the next twenty years, as secret negotiations were held in 1993 between the Palestine Liberation Organization and Israel to open a new chapter in modern Palestinian history, which led to expectations of peace in Palestine, but the course of events proved that Israel was not serious. To reach a peaceful solution to the Palestinian issue.
Operation Al-Aqsa Flood, and in Israel Operation Iron Swords, as some sources refer to it as the Third Intifada, and informally referred to as the Battle of October 7th, is an extended military operation launched by the Palestinian resistance factions in the Gaza Strip, led by the Hamas movement.
